Somatic Trauma Therapy

I offer Somatic Experiencing–informed psychotherapy for burnout, anxiety/panic, trauma activation, dissociation, and chronic bracing—held through disability justice and QTBIPOC liberation. We work slowly and precisely with your nervous system so steadiness, boundaries, and choice become real—not just conceptual. Teletherapy available to California residents. In person in Sebastopol (Sonoma County).

When your life looks “fine,” but your body is not

  • You might be capable, responsible, even accomplished—and still feel exhausted inside. Many clients come to me after years of pushing through: masking, overfunctioning, people-pleasing, bracing, or shutting down to get by. Somatic therapy is for the moment when insight isn’t enough—when your nervous system needs a new lived experience of safety, agency, and choice.

Who I’m a strong fit for

This work is often especially supportive for adults navigating:

  • high-masking autistic/AuDHD burnout, shutdown, sensory overwhelm, and unmasking

  • trauma activation (developmental, relational, medical, accident/injury), including dissociation

  • anxiety/panic, chronic stress physiology, hypervigilance, and bracing

  • identity stress: queer/trans, diaspora, intergenerational grief and harm (held with dignity, not pathologized)

By high-masking, I mean you may appear regulated or successful externally while your nervous system is doing immense work to cope—often at significant cost in energy, intimacy, health, and joy.

What we do together

My approach is somatic, relational, and experiential. We go at a pace your system can integrate. In session we track present-moment experience—sensation, emotion, impulse, breath, boundary, micro-shifts—so protective responses can soften without force or shame.

Over time, therapy becomes a practice of:

  • noticing activation earlier (before overwhelm or collapse)

  • building resourcing that’s real and usable

  • working with protective responses (fight/flight/freeze/fawn/collapse) with care

  • strengthening boundaries, needs, and self-trust

  • expanding capacity for steadiness, pleasure, and connection

Next Steps

My lens

I’m Setareh Azar Jinn (she/her), LMFT #104844 and Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP) (licensed/credentialed under my legal name, Nima Saalabi). My work is rooted in disability justice and healing justice, with a particular commitment to QTBIPOC liberation. I hold nervous system science alongside the lived realities of power, culture, survival, and identity—without treating your identity or neurotype as the problem.

What sessions are like

Warm, engaged, collaborative. I’ll name what I’m noticing, offer practical psychoeducation when useful, and invite experiments you can feel—not just understand. We build change through experience, not performance.
