Somatic Therapy for Minority Stress in California

Somatic Therapy for Identity Stress (California Teletherapy + Sebastopol)
A decolonial, disability-justice–rooted space for queer/trans and diasporic clients to unlearn bracing and come home to themselves.

Minority stress isn’t “in your head.” It lives in the body: vigilance, bracing, shutdown, anger, grief, and the constant internal calculus of safety. Therapy can be a place to metabolize what you’ve had to carry and reclaim what’s yours.

Signs this might be you

  • chronic vigilance, people-pleasing, or masking for safety

  • shame, grief, anger, or exhaustion tied to identity stress

  • family/cultural rupture, intergenerational pain, diaspora dislocation

  • dysphoria-related stress or social safety stress (without pathologizing you)

  • difficulty resting, receiving, or trusting support

How we work
We do nervous-system work with context: power, culture, survival, and meaning. My practice is rooted in healing justice + disability justice with a commitment to QTBIPOC liberation—held with clinical rigor and warmth, not slogans. You get to bring your whole self.

Next Steps

What tends to change

  • less bracing; more grounded agency

  • clearer boundaries without collapse

  • more capacity for intimacy, pleasure, and self-trust

  • grief and anger held in ways that metabolize rather than harden

  • a deeper sense of “I belong in my body”
