Medical Trauma Therapy in California

Medical Trauma Therapy (Sebastopol + California Teletherapy)
Somatic trauma therapy for procedures, chronic health stress, injury, misattunement, and the nervous system impacts of medical systems.

Medical trauma can come from pain, invasiveness, loss of control, not being believed, discrimination, or a body that became unpredictable. Many people feel re-triggered in medical settings long after the event.

Signs this might be you

  • anxiety around appointments, procedures, or bodily sensations

  • flashbacks, panic, shutdown, numbness, or dissociation in medical contexts

  • fear of being dismissed, misgendered, harmed, or not respected

  • chronic bracing, insomnia, or “I can’t relax in my body”

  • health-related grief, anger, or mistrust

How we work
We work with the nervous system responses that got locked in: fight/flight/freeze, collapse, bracing, and procedural memory. Sessions are paced and consent-forward. When relevant, we also address identity-based medical stress (queer/trans, disabled, BIPOC/diasporic) in a grounded way.

Next Steps

What tends to change

  • less activation around care and bodily sensations

  • more agency, boundaries, and preparation skills

  • reduced procedural fear and shutdown

  • more self-trust inside your body
