Dismantling the Colonial Gender Binary:

Trans, Agender, Third Gender, Two Spirit, Non-Binary, Genderfluid Identities

Many cultures around the world have had a wide array of gender norms, identities, experiences and expressions far beyond the oppressive colonialist idea of the gender binary. I offer culture and decolonized somatic therapy to help 2SLGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC folx dismantle the gender binary and excavate gender norms that have been buried by colonialism. Although terms like non-binary, trans, agender, genderfluid, two spirit may be newer terminology, throughout history many BIPOC cultures have embraced third genders and multiple gender identities. Through the violence of colonization multiplicity of gender identities have been erased and a hegemonic gender binary invisibly enforced. I offer a decolonized approach to somatic psychotherapy to help folks dismantle the colonization of gender and feel into their actual, visceral, & ancestral gender identity within cultural context.
